9 Things Men Really Find Romantic

Men aren't supposed to like romance, right? Well, that's the theory, anyway.

Romance with mens - trickdump

Men may not always like to call it romance, but they want to connect with you just as much as you do. Here are 9 ways to get him looking at you in a whole new way.

1. Dress up for him

"Consider dressing for his tastes and not just yours once in a while," says Barbara De Angelis, Ph.D., author of Secrets About Men Every Woman Should Know. "Take him shopping and have him choose outfits he would like to see you in or some lingerie he finds sexy." Or you can always ask him: You may be surprised to find out that what he finds sexy, is different from what you think.

And don't be afraid to play into a fantasy. Maybe he wants you to dress up as a character and role-play. You never know. But, as psychologist Ronald Goldstein, Ph.D., a marriage counselor in Newtown, Pennsylvania, explains: "Women should keep in mind that men are visually oriented." If putting on a little outfit for a few minutes will get him looking at you in a new, excited way, what do you have to lose?

2. Touch him all over

This isn't about sex or a massage. It's just plain touching and phsyical affection, like playing old-school footsie. It can be totally reassuring.

"Learn to love and appreciate all of your man's body," says De Angelis. "This will give you time to become more aroused and make him feel like you love every part of him."

3. Give him a night out with the boys

Guys love their bros. Dude-time is important and for you to acknowledge that and understand it will make you all the more sexier. Have him really appreciate you by suggesting he have a night out with his boys. It shows him trust, and that you're truly trying to make him happy, not just making an empty romantic gesture.

4. Remind him you love him

"I think a man sometimes likes to hear that he's loved and missed," says Goldstein. "Corny as it sounds, if the woman puts a note in his briefcase or calls him up at work just to say how much she's looking forward to having sex that night, it can really make a guy's day."

Send him a flirty email from your office, leave a sexy message on his voice mail or tuck a NSFW pic of yourself into his pocket. He'll get it...

5. Tell him what a big, strong guy he is

Men want to be heroes. Remembering to compliment your guy on being a great isn't always easy in the middle of a busy day, but it's a quick shortcut to making him feel wanted, needed and loved, which is of course the ultimate point of any romantic gesture.

6. Pamper, pamper, pamper

A solid pampering after a rough day at work works like magic. If you know his day has been hell, why not give your husband a massage, set up a hot bath, or a cold beer in a chilled glass? What makes such royal treatment so romantic to a man is the way it reassures him you appreciate his hard work, and that you're proud of him.

7. Make sex with him an event. Break the routine

If you're in the habit of having sex with the lights out, try keeping them on. Watch a porn or get some massage oil and surprise him on the couch. "Have a conversation with your husband and try to get at what some of his sexual fantasies are," suggests Goldstein. Don't do anything that makes you uncomfortable, or it could backfire horribly.

8. Score him a pair of tickets to the big game

What would you rather receive from your special guy: a weekend at the spa or a new set of pots? Gifts that truly benefit him demonstrate how much you love him. So when you're thinking about gifts, try not to think about what you'd like to get him, but what he'd like to receive.

If he loves sports, get him game tickets; drop him off for a round of golf on you. If he loves music, concert tickets. Think hard about what really makes him tick and then gift him something out of the blue.

9. Tell him a secret

Men too, want to be soul mates. Telling him a secret, and letting him deeper inside you demonstrates total trust in him and faith in your relationship. Because you're making yourself vulnerable, it's an incredible bonding experience. Encourage him to tell you a secret or two. And don't laugh.
